Drug production in Golden Triangle still affects Cambodia

Cambodia is still concerned about drug production in the Golden Triangle because it has affected the country, said Ke Kim Yan, chairman of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD).

Speaking at the 7th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Drugs via video conference this morning, Kim Yan said Cambodia and ASEAN as a whole have still faced some serious issues, especially the production and trafficking of drugs in the Golden Triangle.

Drug trafficking in the region is still on the rise although clampdown on drug trafficking has been conducted, he said.

Kim Yan said Cambodia fully supported the joint mechanisms and cooperation with the region and the world to further fight against the drugs.

He also called on the international community and development partners, as well as all countries to continue cooperating, participating, and supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Community Security Plan on Drugs.
